Sonia Slaymaker
Training Officer
Sonia has extensive experience in the care sector, beginning her career working with children aged 0–4 as a childminder and running a mother and toddler group. She later transitioned into adult care and has spent the past 20 years working in the care of the elderly.
Sonia has worked as a carer in a nursing home and, after achieving her A1 Assessor Award, she expanded her expertise by joining a large care provider as a Training Advisor. In this role, she managed all new staff training through induction and ensured existing staff maintained their annual training requirements. She also supported care staff in achieving their NVQ and QCF diplomas across various work environments. Over the course of her assessing career, Sonia has seen the qualification framework evolve three times, giving her a deep understanding of the sector’s standards and requirements.
Sonia joined Progression Training in September 2017 and continues to support care staff in developing their skills, achieving their qualifications, and reaching their professional goals within the workplace.
