Welsh Government accused of Age Discrimination in Training

The Leader of the Welsh Conservatives – Andrew RT Davies – has today accused the Welsh Labour Government of pursuing policies which discriminate against older people.

Speaking in the chamber Mr Davies accused the First Minister of “ageism”, claiming that Welsh Labour policies effectively amount to an ‘age limit on learning’.

On Sunday the Deputy Minister for Skills, Julie James, admitted that the Welsh Government had made some “awful” decisions in the area of skills and training, and in First Minister’s Questions today Mr Davies urged the First Minister to reverse Labour’s damaging cuts to FE and lifelong learning.

The Welsh Government has cut the adult part-time education budget by 50% for 2015/16, whilst there are now 90,000 fewer adults in part time learning than there were 10 years ago.
